How To Get Here

September 10, 2017 by Rey

There are currently 3 different ferry sailing options to get to the island.

The car ferry which also takes passengers. Departs half moon bay and Down town Auckland

Car & Passenger Ferry to Waiheke & Great Barrier Island – SeaLink

There is a  bus that goes from the ferry, it is not very often though so our recommendation is you book a taxi if using the car ferry as a passenger.

Worth keeping an eye on the option of deals for a car and driver, sometimes passenger too as they have them from time to time.

Then fullers ferry, departs from the city. Goes to Matiatia.

Fullers360 – Ferry and experiences in Auckland, New Zealand

Also another option departing from the city to Matiatia

Island Direct | The Waiheke Ferry – Island Direct NZ

This is a booked confirmed seat ferry

Matiatia is only a few minutes down the hill from our house. There are buses run regularly from the terminal. They leave on the pier 3 side. The bus stop is 2 doors past our house. So just walk back up the road towards the shops and there we are. Waiheke Beach Villa has a sign on the fence. Or there are taxis if you prefer they are parked in the front portion of the carpark nearest the terminal one ferry side. Also rental cars available on the island if you prefer this option.

Our home is right beside the shops at Oneroa, there is no letter box at our place as someone decided they needed it more than us so we chose not to replace it. Number 155 is on the house so you will be sure you are at the right home. There is a lock box both sides of the house. You will be emailed the code for it 2 weeks prior to your arrival.
